Crispy Chicken Drumsticks (Chinese Style Cooking Recipe) Welcome to Xiao's Kitchen. My name is Xiao Wei, ever since my Mother taught me how to cook at an early age, I have always had a strong passion for Cooking. My family still live in Inner Mongolia in the northern part of China, where I visit each year and pick-up new Asian/Chinese recipes. A flavoursome, crispy yet tender chicken dish. you will love it - even your kids! Ingredients: 8 Chicken Drumsticks 3cm Ginger 4 Spring Onions 5 Cloves Garlic 3 Tbsp Sugar 1 Tsp Red Peppercorn 1 Star Anise 2 Tbsp Chinese 5 Spice 4 Tbsp Dark Soy Sauce Method: 1. Slice the ginger 2. Slice the garlic 3. Place chicken drumsticks in a pan 4. Add ginger, garlic & spring onions 5. Add red peppercorns & star anise, Chinese 5 spice, sugar…soy sauce and salt to your taste 6. Add 1 litre of water 7. Stir ingredients together 8. Bring to the boil for 2 minutes 9. Place a lid on the pan 10. Turn heat to medium and continue to boil for 30 minutes till chicken is tender 11. Remove chicken from the pan onto a dish to drain 12. Heat 1 litre of cooking oil in the wok until hot 13. Test oil temperature with the end of chopsticks – if they bubbling then the oil has reached its ideal temperature 14. Place drumsticks in the hot oil one at the time 15. Fry for 3 to 5 minutes until golden 16. Remove from oil and drain 17.
